🌊 Cliffs, Castle & Coastal Wonders – An East Coast Wild Swim Adventure from from the boat

Event details
A day of wild water, dramatic cliffs, soaring seabirds and a little adventure along Scotland’s beautiful east coast off the boat.

Have you ever wondered what our coastline looks like from the sea?
What secrets lie beneath those towering cliffs? What does it feel like to float in the water while seabirds wheel overhead? And how often do we get the chance to explore a stretch of coastline that looks completely different from the water?
We’ve teamed up with Blue Wild Boat Tours to create a rather special adventure, combining their boat tours with our love of wild swimming and discovering the beautiful places around our waterways.
Together, we’ll take you on a full-day journey from Dunbar Harbour, exploring one of Scotland’s most spectacular stretches of coastline towards St Abbs and the historic Fast Castle.
A day to explore, discover, dip and enjoy the wonderful feeling of being out on the open sea.

⛵ Our adventure begins at Dunbar Harbour…
We’ll leave the harbour behind and head out onto the waters of the North Sea, watching the coastline unfold before us.
And what a coastline it is!
Rugged headlands, dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and the wonderful sight of seabirds filling the skies.
As we travel along the coast towards St Abbs, we’ll have the opportunity to appreciate these magnificent cliffs from a completely different perspective.
At this time of year, the cliffs can be alive with birdlife, with seabirds soaring above the water, gathering on the rocky ledges and diving into the sea in search of food.
We’ll take our time to enjoy the sights, sounds and wonderful natural surroundings.
And when the conditions are right…
We’ll slip into the water! 🌊
💙 Swimming beneath the cliffs…
There is something quite extraordinary about swimming beneath towering cliffs.
From the water, everything seems a little bigger.
The cliffs rise above you.
The seabirds call overhead.
And the sea gently moves around you.
We’ll have the opportunity for up to two wild dips during our adventure, choosing suitable locations along the coastline according to the conditions on the day.
Imagine floating in the water, looking up at the cliffs and watching the seabirds going about their day.
No rushing.
No distances to complete.
Just the chance to enjoy being part of this wonderful coastal landscape for a little while.
And perhaps a few giggles along the way!

🏰 Onwards towards Fast Castle…
Our adventure continues along the Berwickshire coastline towards Fast Castle, one of those extraordinary places where history and landscape come together.
Perched high above the North Sea, the ruins of this medieval castle occupy a dramatic rocky headland.
It’s an impressive sight from the land, but seeing it from the water gives a completely different appreciation of just how remarkable its position is.
We’ll enjoy the views from the boat, taking in the rugged coastline and imagining the lives of those who once occupied this remote and dramatic place.
Sometimes the best adventures are about discovering places we might never otherwise get to see.
And this is certainly one of them.
🥪 Lunch with a view…
Somewhere along our journey, we’ll settle down aboard the boat to enjoy lunch together.
Bring your own packed lunch, something tasty to drink and perhaps a few extra treats for that wonderful post-swim appetite!
There’s something rather lovely about sitting on a boat, enjoying good food, chatting with fellow swimmers and looking out across the sea.
No cafés to rush to.
No busy schedules.
Just lunch, laughter and a view that’s rather difficult to beat.
🐦 A little time for nature…
One of the things I love about wild swimming is how it encourages us to become more curious about the natural world.
And this coastline has so much to offer.
The cliffs around St Abbs are important habitats for seabirds, and depending on the season, we may see species such as guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars.
Keep your eyes on the water too.
You never quite know what marine life might make an appearance!
We’ll enjoy the opportunity to observe the wildlife from a respectful distance, allowing nature to carry on around us without disturbance.
💙 Who is this adventure for?
Anyone who has enjoyed wild swimming before and fancies a little adventure!
You don’t need to be an experienced sea swimmer, swim long distances or be the person who stays in the water the longest.
Whether you’re someone who enjoys a gentle dip or loves a longer swim, this adventure is about discovering somewhere new, enjoying the beautiful coastline and sharing the experience with like-minded people.
All we ask is that you’ve wild swum before, feel comfortable in open water and are happy to enter and exit the sea from a boat with guidance from our team.
And remember, there’s so much more to this adventure than the swimming itself.
The spectacular cliffs, abundant birdlife, historic Fast Castle and the wonderful experience of exploring the coastline with Blue Wild Boat Tours are all part of the day.
Come with your curiosity, your sense of adventure and perhaps a little excitement about discovering somewhere new!
