Dip into the Dark & Welcome in the New Moon 🌙✨

Friday 9 October | 6.30pm | Loch of the Lowes

There is something rather magical about being in the water as daylight begins to fade…

As part of the South of Scotland Dark Skies Festival, join us at beautiful Loch of the Lowes for an autumn evening of wild swimming, firelight, food and good company.

We’ll meet as dusk begins to settle over the loch, get ourselves ready and then take to the water as day slips into night.

And because this is a Dark Skies event, we’re adding a little sparkle of our own.

✨ Pop a light inside your tow float.
✨ Wrap some battery fairy lights around your hat.
✨ Light yourself up and become part of the view!

Imagine looking across the darkening loch and seeing little pools of light bobbing across the water while the stars begin to appear overhead.

Once we’re back on dry land, we’ll gather around the fire, warm our hands, tuck into hot soup and s’mores, and simply enjoy being there.

No rushing off.

Just chatting, laughing, looking up at the sky and enjoying one of those lovely moments when life feels wonderfully simple.

Because sometimes the best adventures are about being completely in the moment.

What to bring

🌊 Your usual swim kit
🛟 A tow float with a light inside
✨ Battery-powered fairy lights or another waterproof light if you fancy getting creative
🧣 Plenty of warm layers for afterwards
🔦 A torch or headtorch for getting around safely
☕ Your favourite post-swim mug if you have one
😁 And your sense of adventure

Hot soup and s’mores are included.

Swimming will be managed according to the conditions on the evening, and safety information will be provided before entering the water. As always with Take to the Water, there is no pressure to swim further or stay in longer than feels right for you.

Come and experience Loch of the Lowes in a completely different way.

Dark water.
Twinkling lights.
A crackling fire.
Warm soup.
Sticky s’mores.
Stars overhead.

And a little reminder to stop, look around and enjoy exactly where you are. 🌙🔥✨
