Event details

We will start our walk from the car park at Galafoot, (under the bridge) we will walk along to Abbotsford, follow the river to the A7 bridge, cross the river.

Here we will stop for a short dook to explore the waters of the river, have a drink and bite to eat before warming up by completing the remainder of the walk back to the cars.

Anyone wishing to give a dook a try are most welcome.

Walking route is relatively flat with some slight inclines and one or two muddy spots.

Route length – approximately 7.0 km.

A suggest list of kit for the dookers is as follows:

♦ Swimming costume (or top and lycra leggings)

♦ goggles

♦ towel (large)

♦ water shoes (or old trainers) – this is in addition to your walking shoes

♦ warm drink

♦ jacket

If a seasoned swimmer please bring:

♦ tow float

With us being in the open we will be getting changed in public. I suggest wearing your costume to the swim and bring a large towel which you can change under.

As safety is our top priority – if the weather dictates – we have the option to  changed or cancel the event.

Rivers are notoriously temperamental when we’ve had rain so reserve the right to alter the location of swim if deemed unsuitable to access.
