Event details

Come with us and explore the wonders of Orkney  – steeped in myth, magic, history and phenomenal swims.

Each day we will go out on a day of discovery around the island which Take to The Water will map depending on tides and weather conditions.  We will aim to do 2-3 short swims per day, while exploring the islands amazing history, landmarks and tranquil swim spots.

The aim is the trip is to explore new places, make new swim buddies and be absorbed in the wonders of the world around us.

You will provide your own accommodation and meals in Kirkwall as well as transport to and from the island.

We will share travel around the island to the various swims. Travel options to Kirkwall are either by flight or by Ferry. Accommodation is limited so is suggested that you do book as soon as possible.

We will meet as a group @2.00pm on Thursday the 11th June 2026 once everyone is on the island and will finish our group trip with fish & chips in Kirkwall  @7.00pm on Sunday the 14th June 2025

As safety is our number one priority, we will reserve the right to change the activities if the weather does not support safe swims.

The adventure is suitable for all abilities of swimmers – most of the swims are short and fun with some longer optional swims. There will be short walks to some swim spots and some clambering over rocks too.

We aim to create variety and will work with the weather to share with you as many different types of swims as possible. Examples are around or in front of the sacrificed boats in the Churchill Barriers, off iconic white sands, in coves and in harbours – each day will be different. This is all interspersed with options to visit the mystical and historical sites of Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, and  walk around Stromness.

This year we have created an option for you to build an extra adventure by following on your trip to Shetland. If you do opt for this option and you bring your car to Orkney, we  advise to keep costs low that you leave your car  on Orkney and pick it back up on your return journey as the ferry stops at Kirkwall on the way back from Lerwick.
