Event details

A boat trip in the  afternoon out to the Farne Islands from Seahouses is an absolute must for any Out door swimming adventurer.

The archipelagos is breath taking, the birds are a wonder and the seals are amusing.

We sail out at 3.00pm, returning @5.00pm after having an amazing opportunity to swim under the Lighthouse. The birds are abundant and the seals are really inquisitive this time of year and often pop up to say hello.

On returning from an adventure that makes your heart sing there is nothing nicer then sitting over looking the harbour enjoying a meal of locally caught fish and the obligatory chips.

The Farne Islands are a group of islands off the coast of Northumberland, England. The group has between 15 and 20 islands depending on the level of the  tide. They form an archipelago, divided into the Inner Group and the Outer Group. The main islands in the Inner Group are Inner Farne, Knoxes Reef, the East and West Wideopens (all joined on very low tides), and (somewhat separated) the Megstone; the main islands in the Outer Group are Staple Island, Brownsman, North and South Wamses, Big Harcar, and Longstone. The two groups are separated by Staple Sound. The highest point, on Inner Farne, is 62 feet (19 m)  above sea level.

The Farne Islands are an internationally important wildlife habitat. In summer puffins, eider duck, Arctic tern, shag, guillemot, kittiwake, fulmar, razorbill, common tern and Sandwich tern all breed here, while in late autumn a large colony of grey seals pup on the islands. Summer visitors to Inner Farne are strongly advised to wear hats due to Arctic terns dive bombing to protect their chicks

As safety is high on our agenda swims may be altered or cancelled as a result of inclement weather.

50% of booking may be refunded should there be a need for you to cancel your place up to 2 months prior to the event. There will be no refunds after this point.

Should the event be cancelled as a result of inclement weather or any other reason, you will be refunded the full amount less @2% which is aligned to the bank admin charges.

As with all animals in the wild we treat them with respect as we enter their habitat and whilst it is one of the largest colonies in the UK there is no guarantee that seals will be present.
